What Meta requires

Meta's Business Tools Terms require advertisers to (a) provide robust and sufficiently prominent notice to end users about the data being shared with Meta, (b) ensure they have lawful basis under applicable law, and (c) not share special category data. Item (a) means a disclosure paragraph naming Meta and Facebook by name.

The text we ship

This service uses the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited ("Meta"). The Pixel collects information about your interactions on this site (page views, clicks, purchases) and shares it with Meta, where it is used to measure ad performance, build custom audiences, and deliver targeted advertising on Facebook and Instagram. The Pixel uses cookies and similar identifiers and may match your activity to your Meta account using a hashed email or phone number when available. You can opt out at facebook.com/adpreferences or by withdrawing consent in our cookie banner.

Conversions API (CAPI)

If you also send events server-side through CAPI, you must disclose that — the data flow is broader than the browser pixel. CAPI typically transmits hashed email, hashed phone, and IP, which the policy must list. The generator includes CAPI language when you select Meta Pixel + server-side tracking.

CCPA / CPRA "sharing"

Meta Pixel triggers "sharing" under CPRA — data flows to Meta for cross-context behavioural advertising. Your policy must include a "Do Not Sell or Share" link that, when clicked, calls Meta's opt-out signal (Limited Data Use). The generator inserts the link and the implementation snippet.

Frequently asked questions

Does Meta Pixel still work in EU after Schrems II?
Yes, under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework which Meta has joined since 2023. Older guidance saying Pixel is unlawful predates the DPF.
Do I need consent before firing the Pixel?
In the EU/UK, yes — opt-in consent through a CMP, with Meta's Limited Data Use flag set when consent is denied.
